ABOUT "DR. YU"
I graduated from a PhD program in Counseling Psychology at Washington State University, an academic program accredited by the American Psychological Association, in 2006. Since then, I have worked as a psychologist in settings such as university counseling centers, VA medical center, and group private practice providing psychological counseling and assessment, supervising psychologists-in-training, providing consultations to individuals and organizations, teaching psychology courses, and giving presentations on various mental health topics. After practicing psychology in Washington and Iowa for a total of four years, I came to Texas and have been licensed as a psychologist in Texas (to verify my psychology license, please go to https://www.bhec.texas.gov/verify-a-license/index.html and type my license number "35031".) since September 2011. I have been practicing psychology at the current location since January 2012. I also hold a full-time position as a senior counseling psychologist at the Counseling Services at Southern Methodist University, as well as serving as a Volunteer Faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I have also taught the Counseling Diverse Communities course for graduate students in counseling at Southern Methodist University as an adjunct instructor. I have an active membership at the Collin County Psychological Association and the Dallas Psychological Association.
I was born and raised in Japan, and have lived in various parts of the United States, such as Oregon, Michigan, California, Washington, Utah, Iowa, and now Texas. Outside of my time as a psychologist, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, exercising, watching/playing sports, traveling, cooking/trying out new recipes, or doing nothing at all.
